Charles William "Charlie" Galloway, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 9:20 AM. Age 70 years. He was a retired contractor and a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Charlie was a master at chess, had a love of traveling, an avid LSU football fan, and he loved performing magic tricks for the children. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Anderson Galloway, Jr. and Maureen Moore Galloway, sister Colleen Dunn. Survived by his daughter Kelly Galloway (husband Vidar) and son Thomas, grandchildren Erik and Kristian Galloway, nephews Colin, Shawn, Randall, and Chris Dunn, and beloved companion Hilda Ferrer. Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial visitation at Rabenhorst East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 4 PM to 6 PM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 6 PM. Interment will be private.

Hey Charlie, Remembering the days of old when we would hang out together at Rick's cafe and enjoy many games of chess. A bit more for yourself than me. (; I'll never forget the wonderful compliment of encouragement leading me to tournament. Thank you for that. As a result i've done well in tournament. I always remember the much humored witted answer when you were having a difficult parting with a Lady friend when asked "What happen Charlie, you guys couldn't get along?" You responded, We got along well, it's him I don't get along with." Set up the pieces Charlie, hope to catch you in the next round.

SIR CHARLES.....Sorry you never made the plane to Bled...the thing i remember best was.."Daughter I try to be a kind good person..daughter i love you..but believe me when you punch the chess club rated tournament game clock Friday night at 7pm AGAINST ME DAUGHTER BELIEVE ME DARLING YOU ARE ALL ALONE OUT THERE in the desert..., I DO NOT KNOW YOU .. IN FACT WHAT IS YOUR NAME AGAIN?? I forget.....DARLING YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.!". ..he promoted chess grandly .ADORED CHESS,,, PLAYED EVERYWHERE/LOVED ACTIVE OPENING GAME CHESS THEORY OF ATTACK... everywhere /sponsored chess all over Louisiana... I have not seen Charlie in years but i remember him from the 80's in the Restaurant Business. Charlie was a very kind and caring person and was a friend to everyone.
