The world has lost a tremendous woman, but heaven has gained yet another angel. Audrey Bourque Peno passed away peacefully at home on August 9th after praying the rosary surrounded by her devoted husband and her five children. She was born in 1933 and lived most of her 85 years on Black Bayou Road in Gonzales. Poochie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She spent her life teaching, nurturing, and caring for others; sharing God's love with all who knew her. In her younger days, she was an avid basketball player and cheerleader. She spent many hours picking strawberries while helping out on her family's farm. Poochie graduated from Gonzales High School, where she made and kept several life long friends. She soon met and married her love and our Dad. They spent the next 65+ years as the most amazing set of parents any child could wish for. While raising her own children, Poochie began welcoming grandchildren into her world, thus taking on her most cherished role as "Maw Poochie". She was preceded in death by her parents, Oneal and Eugenia Bourque, granddaughter Alexis Porta, infant great grandsons Isaac Bourque, Nicholas and Thomas Kehn. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Ronald Peno; their children, Rhonda Porta and her husband Colin, Christine Peno, Mike Peno, Rebecca Mabile, and Tricia Fernandez and her husband Kris; grandchildren, Rick (Verena), Shane, Ben (Kelly), Rusty (Teresa), Tobey (Christy), Haley (Cheyenne), Jessica (Eric), Christopher, Jake (Mandy), Malorie (Zach), Melissa (Zach), Greg (Sarah), Emily, Presley and Charley J; 33+ great grandchildren; and lifelong friends, Jeanette Lambert and Shirley Moore. Maw Poochie will never cough again. She is singing with the angels and in God's hands. Our hearts are in pieces, but we are rejoicing that she is in perfect peace finally. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Audrey (Poochie) Bourque Peno on Saturday, August 11, 2018, 10:30 am at St. Mark Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home and again on Saturday at St. Mark starting at 9:00 am leading up to the start of Mass. Burial will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery of Gonzales. Donations can be made in Mrs. Peno's name to St. Jude Children's Research Center(www.stjude.org/). The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Michael McCarthy, Dr. Paul Dammers and Pinnacle Hospice for the outstanding care given. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales (www.oursofh.com) is in charge of arrangements.

I was so sorry to hear of Poochie's passing. She had such a kind and gentle spirit. I always enjoyed when y'all would come over to Aunt Dot's to visit. The stories of the grandchildren and great grandchildren were delightful and often very funny. Poochie is resting in Gods gentle care
You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
