Ellis "Alvin" Tilley passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Baton Rouge General Hospital at the age of 82. He was born January 4, 1936 to Iles and Levy Tilley in Hall Summit, LA. He retired from Bayou Rail as a mechanical engineer. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Jamie Tilley, daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Al Wilder, brother and sister-in-law, Wiley and Sally Tilley, brothers Billy Joe and Fred Tilley, sister-in-law Marie McMorris; brother-in-law, Carlton Stafford, three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Stafford Tilley; brother, Bobby Tilley; brothers-in-law, Newton Stafford and Dempsey McMorris; and in-laws Hannie and Ollie Stafford. Services will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 24642 Hwy 442, Independence, LA on Monday, September 17, 2018 with visitation from 9 a.m. until funeral at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. James Baptist Church, Hwy 1036, Holden, LA. Services will be officiated by Bro. Carlin Sanders. Pallbearers will be Shannon, Brandon, and Ryan Tilley, Ray Chidester, Dwayne Smith, and Howard Efferson.
