Evelyn Baker Picou, a resident of French Settlement passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the age of 78. Visitation will be at Word of Life Worship Center, Maurepas, La. on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10 a.m. until funeral at noon. Burial will be in Maurepas Community Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Gilliand Barton (Robert E.); Stepchildren, Faith Picou Broussard (Harold), Andy Picou (Lisa) and Michael Picou; Sister, Patsy Baker Dyess; 8 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Picou; parents, James Lavelle Baker and Thelma Triplet Baker; sister, Laverve Baker Hadwin; Brother in law, Joe Hadwin Evelyn was a member of Word of Life Worship Center; She was on the foster grandparents board of directors for many years and the Quad area Board of Directors. She graduated from LSU Magna Cum Laude, was a member of LSU PTK-Phi Theta Kappa and was named sociology student of the year. Her hobbies were fishing, cross stitching, cooking, and reading but her passion was her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her daughter and church. Her favorite quote was "The Lord don't punish with a stick". Arrangements by Church Funeral Services of St. Amant.
