Iris Ernestine Stilley Barry, 91, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 7, 2019. Ernestine was born on August 15, 1927 in Albany, LA to William Ernest and Emma Floedia (Collins) Stilley, Sr. She was loved by her expansive family, being the eldest of 5 generations before her passing. We'll remember the sharp wit and fierce independence she possessed and passed along to her descendants. She served as a nurse, accomplished needle-point and crochet artist, and adopted many beloved cats, dogs, and the occasional fish. Ernestine traveled extensively & visited almost every state including Hawaii & a month in Alaska. Surviving Ernestine are her children Lois (Joel) Myers of Denham Springs, LA, Barbara (Butch) Templet of Newellton, LA and James Allen (Jan) Allred III of Gonzales, LA; nine grandchildren Cynthia Myers of Shalimar, FL, Alicia Enloe of Denham Springs, LA, Joe Myers Jr. of Gonzales, LA, Jody Stewart of Livingston, LA Wendy (Alberto) Murillo of St Amant, LA James (Connie) Allred IV of Baton Rouge, LA and Teddy Myers of Denham Springs, LA; nine great-grandchildren Josh (Olivia) Enloe of Baltimore, MD, Jade (Jordan) Copeland of West Monroe, LA, Dalton Enloe of Denham Springs, LA, Holly Enloe (Matt Runde) of Minneapolis, MN, Savannah Franks of Manitou Springs, CO, Cole Murillo of StAmant, LA, Autumn Stewart of Livingston, LA, Evan Myers of Denham Springs, LA, Kayla Murillo of StAmant, LA, Lucas & Liam Allred Of Baton Rouge, LA; and, two great-great-grandchildren, Kaden and Karter Joel Copeland of West Monroe, LA. Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, William Ernest and Emma Floedia Stilley, Sr.; daughter, Katherine Iris Allred Clark; grandson, Ronald "Lucky" Hannon Stewart; and siblings, Verlie Stilley Beraud, Mary Juanita Stilley Hutson, and William Ernest Stilley, Jr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Wednesday. January 9, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Billy Hutson will officiate the service with interment to follow in Little River United Pentecostal Church Cemetery. At Ernestine's request Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Marvin Myers, Jr, Jody Stewart, Jimmy Allred, Teddy Myers, Dalton Enloe, Cole Murillo, Evan Joel Myers and honorary Pallbearer, Joshua Enloe. The family would like to express Special thanks to the care given by Gonzales Nursing Home & Clarity Hospice.
