SIMON, J. MINOS A private memorial service will be held for J. Minos Simon, 82, who died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at 1:10 a.m. at his residence in Arnaudville. Mr. Simon, the son of the late Amar Simon and the former Elvina Bouillion, was a native of Vermilion Parish. He was a trial attorney for 56 years, who actively engaged life in many respects. While his legendary legal talents speak for themselves, he was an avid sportsman who was as comfortable quoting the great philosophers as he was hunting alligators in the marshes of Louisiana. He loved hunting, fishing, scuba diving and horse racing. He was a published author and an accomplished aviator and, without question, a man who fully embraced life on all levels. He expressly wanted to be remembered as one who dearly loved his family, friends, clients and country. Survivors include his wife, Jeanie Holmes Simon of Arnaudville; two daughters, Michelle Simon Eckert of Baton Rouge and Suzette Simon Tardo of Lafayette; three sons, Joseph Minos "Jay" Simon Jr. of Baton Rouge and Joseph Clemille "Clé" Simon and Joseph Quentin Simon, both of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Jodi Fulton Benton of Baton Rouge and Jennifer Reeves Sylvester of Pensacola, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren and 32 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jason James Simon; and a brother, Wilson Simon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70503 or to the Krewe des Chiens Inc., P.O. Box 62871, Lafayette, LA 70596. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, in charge of arrangements.

Still remember all the wonderful times of being in the company of J. Minos Simon and family. I think of each of you often. Last time I forgot to add that I was John K. ("Tillie), and Pauline Snyder's daughter! Cynthia"Maria Grace " Roszell. Now I know the feeling, Jeanie...I just lost my own husband(Feb. 26, 24).

To the family of J. Minos Simon...It had been many years now, but I just want y'all to know that I still miss Me. Simon. I recall the times ya'll visited us on Richmond Drive in Alexandria. And out at Mr. Widorf's place. Clemille and Quentin, we used to play ...kicking one another in the long ball-like room on the stage. The piano was at the far end of that great room. Lots of fishing out there. Anyway, I just wanted to reach out to each of you all.
