Mildred Jessie Ward Jordan

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."(Philippians 4:13) Mildred Jessie Ward Jordan, native of Mississippi and resident of Baton Rouge, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Mildred was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi on January 5, 1922 to Anthony and Bertha Lane Ward. She was the oldest of three children. Mildred graduated from Alcorn A&M College and received a Bachelor of Education degree in 1943. She received her Master of Education Degree from Tuskegee University in Alabama in 1957. She received her Specialist Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Mildred taught Home Economics in the Wayne County (Waynesboro) MS Public School System for thirty-six years. She was actively involved in many civil and civic organizations. She leaves to cherish her memory, a very special daughter-in-law, Ruby Guillory Jordan (Baton Rouge, LA), four grandsons: William W. Jordan (Hattiesburg, MS), Laten V. Jordan (Columbus, OH), W. Frazier Jordan, III (Baton Rouge, LA), Taylor M. Jordan (New Orleans, LA), five great grandchildren and a host of relatives, friends and students. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert F. Jordan, Sr.; son, Wilbert Jr.; and two brothers, Anthony Jr. and Orville Ward. Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until services at 9:00 a.m. at Wilson-Wooddale Memorial Chapel.
