It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the death of Pamela M. Mitchell on July 7, 2018. She was 66 years old. Born on August 23, 1951 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to her parents, Sampson P. Mitchell and Nita Wells Mitchell which she will now join in eternal life. Pam resided in beautiful St. Francisville with her longtime friend, Marjorie Hagler. Pam graduated as valedictorian from Ponchatoula High School in 1969. She then graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with honors, with a B.S. in Science/Math in 1973. Pam worked and retired from Lockheed Martin after 28 years of service as an aerospace engineer and manager, which included working on the space shuttle program and numerous other rocket propelled projects. After retiring at the young age of 50, Pam became an avid golfer - playing in numerous state and local golf tournaments. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at the Bluffs Golf Country Club. Pam volunteered at the West Feliciana Food Pantry and made food boxes. She also enjoyed winning times at the casino. Pam spent many hours enjoying the company of her furry pets, Luckie and Star. Pam is survived by her brother, Sammy Mitchell and his wife Tena; best friends (just like sisters), Marilyn Hagler, Nancy Conravey, and Melody Deroche, and niece, Kristy Deroche; as well as numerous close cousins. We dearly loved Pam...always a smile and an interesting golf or casino story. Our patients become our extended family and we will miss Pam just like we would miss our favorite Aunt. Our deepest sympathy is sent to Margie and her family. We will keep them all in our prayers.

Pam was a great engineeer, supervisor and developer of future engineers during her years at Lockheed Martin. Many of her former employees have risen thru the ranks to Executive management positions at Lockheed Martin. She was admired and trusted by her management and both our NASA & commercial customers. She had a knack for effectively dealing with a wide variety of colorful managers, co-workers and employees with respect and humor. Pam cared deeply about her friends and employees. She will be missed.
