Timothy Dwight Miller

Timothy Dwight Miller, of Oscar, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on March 6, 2018. Tim was born on July 7, 1958 in La Rochelle, France, during his father's military tour of duty. A loving husband, father, grandfather and faithful friend, Tim is survived by his wife, Peggy Miller and sons, Jason Jarreau and wife Alisha, Chad Jarreau and wife Paige, Spencer Bernard Miller; grandchildren, Abby Grace and Ethan Aldo Jarreau; sister, Renee and many friends and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his father, Spencer Clay Miller, mother, Bertha Blackard Miller and his brother, Clay Miller. Tim, a former Marine, proudly served his country from 1980-1987. He never lost his passion for the Corp and portrayed these values in every aspect of his life. After obtaining his LSU Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, he excelled as an electrical and instrumentation engineer at BASF. Tim had a keen sense of adventure, passion for travel and love of the great outdoors. He never missed an opportunity to ride dirt bikes (MX), travel or go camping with his family. He was a BSA Scout Master, where he mentored young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Tim encouraged those around him to live up to their fullest potential and was always eager to assist his family and friends, as well as strangers, no matter what the task or challenge. He will be greatly missed by many, but his impact will have a lasting effect on all who knew him. Pallbearers are Spencer Miller, Chad Jarreau, Jason Jarreau, Jace Jarreau, Doug Matte, and John Dunn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim's name to the Glioblastoma Foundation (www.glioblastomafoundation.org), Caring Bridge (www.caringbridge.org), or (www.stjude.org). Visitation will be held at Niland's Funeral Home in New Roads on Wednesday, March 7 from 6-9p. On Thursday, March 8, visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 9a-10:30a, following by mass and funeral services at Immaculate Conception. A reception will follow in the church hall.
