Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille (DOWNTOWN) for Warren Mouton Simon, Jr., 79, who passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette. Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum. Left to cherish his memories include his five daughters, Renee Simon Grissom, Valerie Ann Simon, Ph.d, Carol Simon Russell, Michele Walsh Simon, and Dr. Stephanie Simon Appleman; one son, James Warren Simon; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Mouton Simon, Sr. and La Venia Radebaugh Simon. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Lafayette for the past 25 years, Warren Mouton Simon, Jr. attended Holy Name of Jesus Grammar School in New Orleans, Jesuit High School from 1949-1953, Vanderbilt University from 1953-1957 where he received his B.A., and Tulane Law School from 1959-1962 where he received his J.D. While in school, he was a member of Kappa Sigma (Kappa Chapter) 1953-1957 where he served as an officer from 1956-1957 and Phi Alpha Delta from 1959-1962. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy as a Lieutenant and served on the USS Kerisarge in the Western Pacific. He has served as President of Vanderbilt Alumni Association, President of Paul Morphy Club and Chairman of Vanderbilt Living Endowment Campaign. Warren was a member of Metairie Country Club, Knights of Babylon and Hermes along with other various carnival organizations. Warren was a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association and Jefferson Parish Bar Association. He served on the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, Inc. and American Judicature Society. Warren represented many insurance clients throughout his law career. He practiced law at Simon, Wicker & Wiedmann, where he was a partner from 1962-1967, Simon and Simon where he was a partner from 1967-1974 and Sole Practitioner from 1974 until his retirement. He will be remembered for being the life of the party and an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. Warren Mouton Simon, Jr. was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Miss Mary Broussard LPN, Miss Jennifer Savage LPN, and the entire staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their loving care and compassion. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, from 11:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Acadiana at 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
