A fierce, loving momma, compassionate friend, and life-long resident of Baton Rouge, Alice passed on Monday September 10, 2018, surrounded by her children and the love of her life, David ("Davo") Manship. Alice's vibrant spirit nourished her children, her Davo, her friends, and her garden. Alice chased adventure all over the world, but she was most at home spending time in the blue water, or with her nose in a book. She expressed herself through her cooking, entertaining her friends and family, and through her surprising athleticism. Armed with her ever-present red lipstick, crisp white shirt, and feisty personality, Alice lit up every room. Alice is survived by her love, David Manship; children, Allison and Wyatt Beard, Courtney and Nick Leader, and Madison Lamar; David's children, Jake and Meredith Manship; grandchildren, Will, Amalie, and Catherine Beard, and Charlie and Carter Manship; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Bridget Saloom, Tom and Pam Saloom, Stephen and Gayle Saloom; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Lydia and Dennis Chadwick and Charlotte Saloom; three aunts, Alice McCormick, Joy Albright, and Kay and husband Laurie Bertaut; goddaughter Kryste Saloom; close cousins, Ricky and Laura Saloom, and Bernadette Denny; and numerous nieces, nephews, other cousins, extended family, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Janie McCormick Saloom; father Robert Ignatius Saloom, Sr.; paternal grandparents Camille J. and Beulah Nacol Saloom; maternal grandparents Josephine Albright and Jim McCormick; two brothers, Kevin Saloom and Joey Saloom; two uncles, Raymond Saloom and Sonny Albright; two nieces, Angel Hamilton and Katie Erwin; nephew Michael Saloom; and cousin Christopher Bertaut. The family is also grateful for the abundant amount of love and support from her wonderful friends, including Janet Boles, Mona Warrington, Jennifer Jung, Peggy Langston, Ann Hamilton, Jimmy Distefano, Lynn McDowell and many more we know momma held dear to her heart. We also cannot begin to thank all the incredible doctors and nurses that cared and loved for our momma in the last weeks of her life in the ICU of Baton Rouge General Hospital. Alice was a caring member of her community and a lover of the arts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an artistic or creative . A Celebration of her Life for family and friends will be held Sunday, September 16th from 2pm-5pm at the home she shared with her love. There was no one like her. She was a force to be reckoned with, and we will miss and love her always.
