Alton Kay Griffin, 72, a native of Tuscaloosa, AL and longtime resident of Greenwell Springs, LA passed away August 8, 2018. He was a 1965 graduate of Collins High School in Collins, MS where he set a long-standing record of the most rebounds as a member of the basketball team. He attended Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. He worked in the industrial insulation field, learning the business and eventually ventured into entrepreneurship of his own industrial insulation businesses. He enjoyed weekends at his camp, boating on the Amite River, camping in his R.V., and family vacations at the beach. Alton will be deeply missed. He was a loving husband, big brother, doting dad, incredible "Paps", and a wonderful friend. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fran Carrico Griffin; a son, Christopher S. Griffin and wife Theresa; a daughter, Brandi G. DeLaneuville and husband Chad; four grandchildren: Caitlin Griffin, Alaina Griffin, Griffin DeLaneuville, and Maci Marie DeLaneuville; a sister, Bronna Griffin Ray and husband Kelly; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and his best friend since grade school, Robert Gwen Magee. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Calvin Griffin and Willie Louise (Epperson) Griffin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at the Central location of Seale Funeral Home at 9995 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, August 11 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral services at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Dr. Frank P. Johnson. Following is graveside services and interment at Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary, LA, the town where he proposed to and married his love, and watched his kids being born. Pallbearers are Chad DeLaneuville, Griffin DeLaneuville, Sal Denova III, Ricky Horn, Michael McLin, Sam Priddy, Jake Ray, and Matt Rounsaville. (He was a very tall man, also known as Big Al, and even went by the C.B. handle "High Pockets" back in the day.)
