Audrey Ann McChesney, July 4, 1937-September 18, 2021. Families have special people in them, those who are the rock that others lean on. In our family, that person was Audrey McChesney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who passed away September 18th in Destin, Florida. Born on July 4th, 1937, Audrey was raised in McCook Nebraska, attending McCook High School, and graduating in 1955. She was a phenom at the clarinet, where she was renowned in the high school band. She had a beautiful voice that ranged from alto to bass and was a singer in a girl's quartet. In high school, as throughout her life, she was quick to laugh, a visible leader and a generous friend. Audrey was a modern woman, who worked in a number of professions including accounting, sales and nursing. Ultimately, Audrey loved being a wife to her beloved husband Mac, and mother to her two daughters, Kim and Kelli and son, Kirk. She was a prolific cook, she thrived in the kitchen, and loved to host wonderful dinner parties for family and friends. Pragmatic, thoughtful and insightful, Audrey had a way of making people feel special. She was a fiercely protective mother and grandmother and a loyal friend. She met Ruth McChesney in kindergarten, and they not only married brothers, but shared an unshakeable bond throughout their many years of friendship that lasted until her passing. While friends, children, grand and great-grandchildren were a large part of her legacy, at the core she wrote her life story with her husband Mac. Married for over 63 years, she met the love of her life, Percy Leroy (Mac) McChesney in her sophomore year in high school. They wed in 1958, and their love story lasted through the years. Audrey is survived by her husband Percy, her son Kirk and wife Betty, her daughter Kim and husband Cliff. She was predeceased by her daughter Kelli. She was also grandmother to Deviane McChesney (dec.), Lee McChesney (dec.), Patrick McChesney, Cameron Farrah, and H. Cole Farrah. She was great-grandmother to Riley, PJ and Audrey McChesney. A private celebration of life will be held by family and friends at Laurel Hill Farm www.laurelhillfarmflorida.com.

Ms. Audrey was a very special and loving lady. No matter if it was your first time at her home or the 10th time, you were always welcomed with her beautiful smile and felt like part of the family each time. She loved to cook and we will never forget Thanksgiving dinners and the food laid out to be consumed which she prepared. Everything was absolutely delicious. We will never forget the mashed potatoes and noodles which was one of her specialties. Audrey's passing is such a great loss for her family and friends. She has gone to her heavenly home, but she will always be remembered and always loved very much. It was an honor to have known her and to be a part of her family.
