Born July 20, 1946, he died at home on Saturday, July 4, 2015. He was 68 and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University Paul M Hebert Law Center, a winner of the Moot Court Trial Competition and member of the Law Center Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Ben retired in 2011 after forty years as a lawyer. During his undergraduate years at LSU, Ben was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. An avid sportsman, he spent most of his life enjoying hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes. His love of the outdoors was the source of much pleasure and he supported numerous wildlife and habitat conservation programs. He had a passion for books and knowledge and had the ability to converse on any subject with astounding recall. When a question arose among those who knew him it was always, "ask Ben." Ben always said, "The law was what I did and not who I was." Ben's many hobbies included music and his love of the steel guitar. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Shanna and granddaughter, Mikayla Marie; brother Dennis Day and sister in law, Claudia; nieces Amanda Treadway, Kattie Peyton and great niece Ava Marie Treadway; nephew Louis Russell "Rusty" Day and wife Wendy; and his beloved pets, Joe Boy, Belle and Jack.
