The Wright family would like to announce the passing of Charles Edward Wright on December 28, 2020 after a long illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, as well as a respected business and civic leader in Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife Gail Ceanga York Wright, his sons Norman Wright of Baton Rouge, LAand Paul Wright with wife Dianne of Lafayette, LA; Step-Children Patricia Finn and husband Gerald of Millville, MA; Rick York and wife Wendy of Mandeville, LA; Kim LaRousse and husband Bradley of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as grandchildren Julianne and Stephanie Wright; and step-grandchildren Taylor Roberts, Michael Fort, Hunter LaRousse, Cassandra Cullen, Madeline Fabbri, Jacqueline Marston, and Misty Kimbrell. He also had 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Terrill Wright. "Charlie", as he was fondly known, was born in Negreet, LA in 1932. He grew up in Shreveport, LA, where he attended Byrd High School before graduating from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. He proudly served our Country in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant stationed in Fort Chaffee, in Arkansas and overseas in Japan. Charlie was married to Patricia Terrill Wright from 1956 until her death in 1983; he was subsequently married in 1985 to Gail Ceanga York Wright until his recent passing. Until his retirement, Charlie was an executive in the Southern and South-Central Bell telephone system and AT&T for 47 years in Louisiana and spent much time in our Nation's capital representing the phone company. He was active in many organizations, including Rotary and The United Fund in Baton Rouge, and he was a lifelong avid golfer. Charlie is laid to rest in Green Oaks Memorial Cemetery in Baton Rouge. He was loved and respected, and will be heartily missed by his family and many friends. Donations can be made in Charlie's name to the Salvation Army as he respected the service and hard work of this organization.
