Charles Norris "Ninee" Bourgeois entered into eternal life on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Charlie was born on July 31, 1939, in Gonzales, Louisiana. He graduated from Gonzales High School in 1958. Charlie served in the United States Army from 1962 until 1964. He was honorably discharged from the Army and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There he met Rose Marie Politz in 1964, and they were married in 1965. They were married for 55 wonderful years and happily raised 5 children together. He was a devout Catholic, and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church since 1971. Charlie was always seen holding his rosary, which he prayed daily. He taught adult catechism at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, kept a weekly Holy Hour in the Adoration Chapel at Our Lady of Mercy, was a member of both the Legion of Mary and the Blue Army, and was a passionate supporter and worker in the Pro-Life Movement. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose (Rosie); and his children, Brett Paul Bourgeois, Angie Bourgeois Meche (B.J.), Michael Bourgeois (Natalie), Therese Bourgeois Biletnikoff (Patrick), and Mary Bourgeois Shuford (Kyle); 8 grandchildren: Dylan, Daniel, Charlie, and Sarah Frances Meche; Emma and Ava Shuford; and Chloe and Gabriel Bourgeois. Charlie is also survived by his siblings, Janice Fontenot and Thomas Bourgeois (Priscilla); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Glenn Arnold; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Armand (Red) Bourgeois; his mother, Edna Mae Gautreau Bourgeois Lyons; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Sadie Politz; and brother-in-law, Thomas Fontenot. Visitation will be held on February 22, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on February 23, 2021 at 9:15am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on February 23, 2021 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Interment will follow mass, on February 23, 2021, and be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Dylan Meche, Daniel Meche, Charlie Meche, B.J. Meche, Patrick Biletnikoff, and Kyle Shuford. Honorary pallbearers will be sons, Brett Bourgeois and Michael Bourgeois. Charlie was devoted to his family and to his Catholic faith. He had a great devotion to his beloved Blessed Mother and loved to teach others about Her, often telling people to "pray the rosary every day". Charlie was a great example of what it meant to be a loving husband and father. With his joyful attitude, and faith-filled heart, he touched the lives of everyone he met, and was loved by all.
