Clarence Fountain, founding member of the Blind Boys of Alabama, was born on November 28, 1929, to the late Mr. Willie and Ida C. Fountain in Tyler, Alabama. Clarence departed this life on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake hospital in Baton Rouge, LA. In 2015, Clarence joined the Promise Land Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA, under the leadership of Dr. Perry Wright Jr. Clarence loved his church and thought no one could preach like his pastor.
