A retired employee of the City of Baton Rouge Department of Public Works, he passed away Monday morning, Dec. 16, 2013, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 63, a native of Woodville, Miss., and a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Winnfield Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. Services at Greater King David Baptist Church on Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. John E. Montgomery II. Interment in Louisiana National Cemetery. Survived by a daughter, Courtney Williams; son, Cedrick Holden; sisters, Evelyn Holden and Brenda Holden; brother, Mayor-President Melvin 'Kip' Holden; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a brother. A graduate of Scotlandville High School, he attended Jarris Christian College of Texas.
