It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Donnis Townsend Adams on February 10, 2021 at the age of 78. Donnis was a native of Brookhaven, MS but moved to Baton Rouge as a young woman and considered it her home. Donnis was retired from the State of Louisiana, having spent much of her career working for the Louisiana Secretary of State. The simplest of pleasures in life brought great joy to Donnis. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them, and especially loved decorating and cooking for the holidays. She took great pride in her home and yard, meticulously caring for both. She was passionate about her dogs, making sure they had a lap to sit on and treats to spoil them. She always worked hard, put others first, and confronted each day with a smile despite dealing with a hearing disability. She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her. Donnis was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) M. Adams, Sr., her parents, Marcus Leon Townsend and Marie Townsend, two brothers, ML Townsend, Jr., James ("Sonny") Townsend; and two sisters, Joyce Ballard and Eva Lee Evans. She is survived by her three children; Robert M. Adams, Jr. (Michelle); Stephanie Steverson (Floyd) and Rebecca Adams (Nick); sisters; Pearl Ward and Linda Rice; brother, Douglas Townsend; grandchildren, Meredith, Danielle and Claire Adams, Joshua and Jeremy McMillan, Austin and Colby Taylor; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Rylee, and Cannon McMillan and Nash Taylor, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private memorial service was previously held to commemorate her life.
