Dorothy Smith Obituary

Dorothy "Ms. Dottie" Louise Smith, 67, of Denham Springs, LA, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021. Known as Ms. Dottie by most, she will be remembered as someone who loved the Lord and constantly sang His praises. She was such a faithful servant and such a great friend. She was a Jesus soaking sponge and loved all things of God! She blessed so many people in spreading the Father's heart for them! Her enthusiasm was a bright shining star. Dottie represented Jesus on earth and left His footprints everywhere she went! She spent over 30 years at Alfred G. Rayner Center as a teacher then Director. Countless children benefited from Ms. Dottie's love and direction of the Center. Her proudest accomplishment was her children and grandchildren, they were her life. She was quick to sing their praises to anyone she met! She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Daly and Jennifer Smith; grandchildren, Lily Daly, Allie Daly, and William Daly; siblings, Debora Albrecht, June Baldridge, Lori Pugh, Patricia Langston, and Fred Baldridge; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Fred Baldridge; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Richard Loyd. Visitation will be held at Healing Place Church, 569 Florida Blvd. SW, Denham Springs, LA, Thursday, February 4, from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., followed by burial at Evergreen Memorial Park, Denham Springs, LA. My heart aches, but I know without a doubt Dottie is bathed in God’s glory! I am sure she has wings of gold. I will, for the rest of my life, thank God for allowing me to be part of her life! Dottie expressed the love for her children and grandchildren to me often. Words cannot describe how sorry I am for their loss.

Just knowing Dottie changed our lives. She was the sweetest most
Spirit filled person! She exuded love for the Lord. We always told her that she was a Godsend and an angel on Earth.
She was an amazing person that helped us as we walked a difficult journey. She embraced us all with love. She will forever remain in our hearts as the most blessed wonderful caring and precious treasure. May she bask in joy, love and peace with our heavenly Father wearing her well deserved crown as a daughter of the King. Our hearts go out to her precious daughters and grandchildren who were truly the apple of her eye.

Sweet Dottie,
I still can’t believe you went to glory. What will we do without you? I know you are having so much fun with the father & Jesus. I can still hear your laugh my sweet friend. You have the best laugh!! You were a great friend, so loving, selfless, funny, patient, kind, and an encourager. You loved the Lord Jesus with your whole being. You were bold & courageous on the earth—even when you didn’t feel it, you sure were! Your faith in Him was grand! You knew Him here and you will know Him for all eternity. We miss you already and so sad we weren’t able to see you before you left us. We love you and honor you and will see you again my friend.

To the family,
We are praying for you all and the grandchildren. We know how much Dottie loves her family!!! We pray Gods love and peace be with you during this time and that each of you feels the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Our deepest condolences,
The Woodrow’s ♥
