On the land or the deep, safe in sleep…" Dylan Nicolas Achord, a resident of Watson, passed away at his home early Monday, September 10, 2018 at the age of 20. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps 2D Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Medals. Visitation will be held at Live Oak United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation on Monday will resume at 9:00am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Louisiana National Cemetery at 12:30pm. He is survived by his father, Sidney Achord, mother, Jennifer Laird Rayborn, sister, Faith Achord, brothers, Tate Achord & Tyler Chambliss, cousin and best friend, Julie Achord, maternal grandmother, Diane Laird, maternal grandfather, Richard Laird, paternal grandmother, Bambi Achord, and paternal Grandfather, Willis "Bubba" Achord, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment.
