Funeral services for Effie Mae Norwood, 97, of Zachary, LA will be held at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, LA on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 10:00 am with Dr. Wayne Barnes officiating under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Effie Mae Norwood was born on Thursday, April 17, 1924 in Baton Rouge, LA, and passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 in Ferriday, LA. She was preceded in death by father-Maurice Harold Herpin; mother- Mae Denahm Herpin; husband- Hunter Norwood Jr.; grandson- Stephen Charles Norwood; two brothers- Bo Herpin and Bud Herpin; nephew- Randy Carl Herpin; and daughter-in-law Lamesa Cambre Norwood. She is survived by three sons- Stephen Boyd Norwood and his wife Joshephine of Parland, TX, David Norwood and his wife Pam of St. Joseph, LA, and Joseph Edward Norwood and his wife Tanya of Larose, LA; sister- Theola Smith of Denham Springs, LA; and special friend- Mrs. John L. June Kennedy of Zachary, LA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Todd Herpin, Colin Ray Smith, Tommy Harrell, Jerry Norwood, Dustin Norwood, Asa Norwood, Marcus Norwood, Hunter A. Norwood, Craig Herpin and Gary Nijoka. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Brooks, Butch Chaney, Harold Yantis, Larry Denham, Dr. Wayne Barnes, Keith Allen Myers, Donald Norwood and Paul Norwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children Hospital or charity of choice. Special thanks to the staff of Camelot Leisure Living and Encompass Hospice.
