Elizabeth Roy Duhon passed away peacefully Monday, August 6, 2018 at Landmark of Baton Rouge. She was born March 29, 1922 in Lafayette, LA to Wartelle Roy and Emily LeBlanc Roy. Wartelle was from the Wartelle family of Moundville Plantation at Washington, LA. Emily was a daughter of Simon LeBlanc of Margurite Plantation at St. Gabriel, LA. Elizabeth is survived by one son Glenn Roy, formerly married to Bonnie Duhon, three grandsons, Damon (Sondra), Chris and Eric, and one great grandson Spencer, son of Chris. She also leaves behind her "adopted daughter" and loving friend, Hilda Poche'. Elizabeth was the youngest of the Lafayette "Roy Girls". Her sisters all preceded her in death: Jessie Lee Roy Harris (Sonny), Elsie Roy Dupuis (James) and Rosemary Roy Flanders (Ben). Elizabeth (affectionately known as "Dear") was preceded in death by her adoring husband and sweetheart Henry V. Duhon of Lafayette. Elizabeth and Henry V were married in 1942, living happily together among family and friends. When they moved to Saint Gabriel on the Mississippi River they were once again blessed with wonderful friends and the vibrant "LeBlanc clan". Their years were lively, filled with a myriad of assorted activities: LSU games and tailgating, Sunday dinners rehashing the game, and the annual New Year's Day party with tribal excitement and tables of assorted delicacies. Elizabeth relished every event and was the person who held it all together. Elizabeth was also fond of her two nieces, Patricia Harris and Terry Dupuis, and her nephew Wayne Dupuis. The cousins looked upon each other as siblings, and adored their maternal aunts, especially Aunt Elizabeth. Elizabeth's beautiful life will be forever remembered by her family and friends. She was the kindest and most loving person anyone can meet. Her passing is a sad loss for all who knew her. Indeed, for the world itself. Pallbearers are Spencer Duhon, Henry Hardy, Lige Dupuis, Ric Bajon, Fred Champion and Tommy Leblanc. The family expresses great gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Landmark of Baton Rouge. LA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 10, 2018 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers, 1011 Bertrand Dr., Lafayette, LA. Visiting hours will be observed from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Deacon Reggie Bollick will conduct the services. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Personal condolences may be sent to the Duhon family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
