Evelyn D. Henderson was a resident of Baton Rouge, La., and was born in Beaumont, Tx on June 12, 1925. She died peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was a retired teacher from East Baton Rouge School System. She was devoted to her family and church. She was a lector at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a member of the Knights Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary Court #12. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Alexander DeCoux and Pearl Nero DeCoux; husband of 37 years, James Henderson, III; brothers, Clyde, Marvin, Martin, James, Leroy, and Alexander, Jr. DeCoux; and sisters, Mary Louise D. Boudreaux, Antoinette D. Smith, Alma D. Duncan, May Rose D. Rhodes, and Nova D. Wedge. She is survived by her sons; Alvin, Michael, and Donald Henderson; two sisters, Hilda D. Gardere and Ophelia D. Dauphin; a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visitation and funeral service will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Baton Rouge on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 beginning at 9am. Interment will follow at Green Oaks Memorial Park with repass immediately following at Green Oaks Reception Hall. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

It's been a while since I'd seen Mrs. Henderson, but I remember her always being such a sweet and soft spoken lady.
