A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Gay was a resident of Denham Springs passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the St. Joseph's Carpenter House. She was seventy-four and retired from the LSU Physics and Astronomy Department with thirty-six years of service. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation on Saturday will resume at 9:00am. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Amite Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Richard Sutton, daughter and son-in-law, Laura Gay and Keith Coleman, two grandsons; Bryan Cooper Coleman and wife Meghan, and Brady Keith Coleman, sisters-in-law, Beverly Barnett and Joyce Cooper, sister, Donna Bassett, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Ellis Cooper, Jr., mother Mildred Harris Cooper Armond and stepfather, Aaron Armond, and two brothers, Norman Ellis Cooper, III, and Thomas Guy Cooper. She was loved by all who met her and will be dearly missed. The family would like to give special thanks to her nieces Dina Curtis, and Carrie Jo Sutton for their loving care and support these past few years.
