Genevieve Berryhill Toomer passed away peacefully in Irving, Texas, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the age of 85. She was born on May 6, 1933, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Vivian Browne Berryhill and Thomas J. Berryhill. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy. She is the beloved wife of Ronald J Toomer Sr. They met when they were both involved with KYAK (Catholic Young Adult Club). They were married on July 18, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They have fond memories of traveling and going to LSU football games. Genevieve is survived by her husband and her siblings, Thomas J. Berryhill and Mary Lee Cothern. Her three children include Ronald Jr. and his wife Brandi, Nancy and her husband Scott, and Amy. Her grandchildren include Vanessa Toomer and Ryan, Dylan and Megan Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents. Genevieve was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Genevieve's smile was always bigger when they walked in to visit. They affectionately called her "Grandma G." Special thanks to Ida Bishop for her friendship and loving care of Genevieve. The family would also like to thank the staff at Silverado Valley Ranch Memory Care for their incredible love and support to the family. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 19, at 11am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4826 Main St., Zachary, LA. Visitation from 10 am until service time. Burial will take place at Green Oaks Cemetery, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA.
