Glynn LeRoy "Buddy" Riffel died at The Crossing Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the age of 92. He was born in Lincolnville, Kansas, raised in DeRidder, and came to Baton Rouge with his family in 1938. After graduating from Baton Rouge High School, he worked briefly at Harding Field, then joined the Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific from 1943 through 1945, was wounded in action on Okinawa, awarded a Purple Heart, and honorably discharged. He was employed as a mechanic at Standard Oil Company, Ormet Corporation, and retired in 1985 from Ethyl Corporation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at his camp on Grand River. His survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ann DeVillier Riffel, and two children, Arthur and Judy Riffel.
