Herbert Jones Obituary

Our beloved brother Herbert Jones Jr. was born March 19, 1958 in Saint James, LA to the late Herbert Jones Sr. and Dolores Macklin Jones. He was the fourth of ten children. He transitioned from earth to his heavenly home on September 06, 2021 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice Facility at 1:05pm. Herbert graduated from St. James High. He retired from the City of Baton Rouge's Department of Mosquito Abatement & Rodent Control. He was a jack of all trades: a truck driver, auto mechanic and a self proclaimed chef. Herbert realized at an early age that he was a child of the King and was baptized in the river by the late Reverend Earnest Landry in 1977. He became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Welcome, LA and later joined BeechGrove Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Brenda L. Jones; his two daughters, Danielle Jones (Levora Moore) of Vacherie, LA and Delesha Jones (Michael Hall) of Houston, TX. They were born to his former union with Deonne Aubert of Vacherie, LA; his grandmother Dorothy Jasper of Covent, LA; four stepchildren, Jesse Jones Jr. (Zharon), Terrance Langley (Tamara), Felecia Olinde and Shantell Breaud (Christopher) of Baton Rouge, LA; four grandsons, Timothy Keller, Jermaine Jones, Damir Haynes, and Michael Hall Jr., one great grandson Kashston Keller, step grandchildren Tyteana Weber (Tahj), Brandon Spears, Christopher Breaud Jr., Cassidy Breaud, Sylarrance Langley, and J'Taviah Green, and two step-great grandchildren Tori and Trinity Weber. Three brothers, Rodney Jones (Barbara) of Lemonville, LA and Gregory Jones (Renee) of Edgard, LA, Jacobie Jones (Bridgette) of Baton Rouge, LA; five sisters, Gwendolyn Jones ( Cyril Green), Audrey Temple (Ulysses) and Wanda Jones of St. James, LA; Yolanda Picou (Jerome) and Charlene Dumas (Elton) of Convent, LA.; two brothers-in-law Charles Curtis and Leroy Langley (Neborah) and two sisters-in-law Julia Jones of Boston, MA. and Grindle Johnson of Baton Rouge, LA; one Godchild Jessica Clark and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Jacqueline Jones, one nephew, Gerald Jones, step- son-in-law Michael Olinde and step-grandchild Calista Breaud. Services will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at BeechGrove Baptist Church 9455 Elm Grove Garden Dr Baton Rouge LA 70807 officiated by Pastor Kevin Cowan.
