A retired Department of Highways employee, Howard Jones passed peacefully in his sleep on August 6, 2018 at the age of 73. Howard was interred during a private burial presided by Rev. Dewayne Butler at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, LA. Howard is survived by his loving step mother, Louise Jones, as well as several nieces and nephews along with their children. Howard is preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Louise Alley Smith Jones, lovingly remembered as Mamacita, his Father, Senator Howard Monroe Jones, Sr., and his half-brother, William Louis Smith. Howard was a staunch supporter of LSU athletics and was a member of the Setter Club for Women's Gymnastics, the Fast Break Club for Women's Basketball, the 6 Man Club for Men's Basketball as well as a charter member of the Tiger Gridiron Club for Men's Football. Our sincerest appreciation goes to Dr. Luke Corsten, Dr. Maurice King, Beddie Johnson, Betty Jackson, Always Best Care, Dave Kelly, and Chico Moore for taking such good care of Howard during his life. In remembrance of Howard, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital or the Jefferson Historical Museum in Jefferson, Texas.
