It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Butch) M. Hicks III, age 72, of Denham Springs, LA. He fought a good fight but lost his battle to emphysema on February 10, 2021. He was from Crowley, LA. He was a retired welder for Pipe Trades Local #62 for 47 years. He was a Merchant Marine during the Vietnam War. He was very loyal to his country, his union, & his wife. He loved being outside & fishing during his spare time. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Susan Butler Hicks; daughter, April Hicks Haydel (Pierre); stepdaughter, Trisha Whiddon DeMars (Gerald); sons, James B. Hicks (Amy) & Donovan Hicks (Mary) and numerous grandkids & great grandkids. He is preceded in death by his father, James M. Hicks; mother, Madge Kessinger; brother, Donovan Hicks; stepson, Christopher Dale Whiddon. His body, per his request, is being donated to science. A special thank you to Clarity Hospice for their care and support. There may be a gathering of family & friends at a later date.
