James Milton McQueen III, 79, passed away at his home in Baton Rouge, surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. He was born to James M. McQueen, Jr. and Pauline Melva Bonner on October 19, 1939 in Baton Rouge, LA. A University of Mississippi graduate, Jim received a graduate degree from Louisiana State University. He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1962 and was on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis in Fort Lejeune in North Carolina. He spent most of his career in private practice as a CPA, taking pride in helping others fix problems that were foreign to them. He enjoyed much the same in his leisure time at home or at his fishing camp with mechanical, engineering and electrical problems of his neighbors and friends. An avid fisherman, he endlessly sought the path of success in the face of changing dynamics, enjoying the pursuit and savoring the reward. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Blackshear McQueen; son and daughter in-law, John B. McQueen and Tara J. Tedesco; granddaughters, Peyton T. McQueen and Lauren T. McQueen. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home downtown Baton Rouge, from 9:00 a.m. until a memorial service at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).

Brenda and John, you continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. The camp will not be the same without Jim as he and Brenda were a regular part of our weekends. We shared lots of laughs during our dinners, talking politics, fishing, and camp projects. Kenny would enjoy the same each morning over coffee on the McQueen patio. Jim was a loyal and true friend and will be greatly missed by our family.
