Pastor James Robertson Gordon, Jr., "JR", went to be with Jesus on December 30, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. at the age of 83. JR was preceded in death by his parents James Robertson Gordon, Sr. and Mary Averett Gordon, his sisters Mabel Hughes and Ruby Still, his great-granddaughter Hannah Ferguson, and his son-in-law Gene Ferguson. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Sarah ''Theresa" McCoy Gordon, his children Debbie Thornton and husband Dewayne Thornton, Katherine Ferguson, Sandra Dupree and husband Phil Dupree, Theresa "Diane" White and husband Benny White, Brenda Hamner and husband Charles Hamner and James "Jimmy'' Gordon and wife Flo Gordon, 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. JR devoted his life to Jesus and spent 32 years in the ministry. He touched many hearts and was loved greatly by friends and family. The visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816 on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until funeral service 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
