Jimmy Ray Smiley, Sr, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021 with his family at his side. He was a native of Lake, LA and worked as a Stevedoring Foreman in the Maritime Transport Industry. Memorial Service will be limited to the immediate family due to the covid-19 restrictions. He is survived by his children, James "Jimmy" Smiley, Jr (Michele) of Darrow, Julie Smiley Schexnaydre (Scott) of Gonzales, Tracy Smiley Medine (Charles) of Darrow, Milette Smiley Laiche (Cole) of Gonzales and Jon Nathan Smiley of Gonzales; sister, Verna Arceneaux of Gonzales; nine grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Carolyn Duplessis Smiley, siblings, Isiah Smiley, Mert Smiley, Athalee Smiley and Andrew 'Jay" Clinton Smiley. The family wishes to express thanks to Life Source Hospice (Craig, Joanie, Bobbie, Monique, Gabby & Latrice) and the staff of The Crossing at Clarity. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice in his honor.
