Jo Alice (Jal) Morriss, age 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on December 31, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Peter Morriss Sr. They were married for 61 years. Jal was born at home on August 27, 1939 in Grosse Tete, Louisiana the oldest of 2 children to John Bunyan (J.B.) Frizzell and Mary Euphamia (Epie) Angelloz Frizzell. Raised on the Bayou, Jal attended Shady Grove School in Rosedale, LA through the 10th grade where she played sports and received awards for good grades and attendance. She frequently lived with her Grandparents, Albert Joseph (A.J.) Angelloz and Alice Regina (Henderson) Angelloz. Her Grandfather owned a small country store in Rosedale, where she worked and learned about money, ordering and customer service at an early age. Her Louisiana roots ran deep and is where her country values, love of music and Cajun food come from. At age 15, Jal moved to El Paso, Texas where she graduated from Burges High School in 1957. She was active member and leader in over 10 clubs. Jal also sang with her mother at Fort Bliss, Biggs Air Base, the Lions and Rotary club and many private parties around the city. She sang with Bill Swan's Dance Band and Lew Barton's Orchestra. She was the lead in South Pacific and acted in other plays at the Lions Club. Jal worked as an IBM key punch operator and at El Paso Natural Gas. Jal moved to Arizona in 1969 where she raised her children and obtained her Real Estate license in Flagstaff. She succeeded in this career for over 40 years. She won multiple production awards, became manager for Ed Post Realty and then became the manager and then promoted to Regional Vice President at Coldwell Banker, she was Broker and legal counsel for Keller Williams and ended her career with her husband as owner of Arizona Lifestyles Realty. Jal was an avid volunteer throughout her life. She gave her time and leadership to the Women's Junior league, March of Dimes, PTA, Choir director at the Methodist church, Brownie and Campfire Girls and many Real Estate committees in AZ. Her brother, John Bonner Frizzell preceded her in death along with her stepmom, Viola Gass Frizzell and grandparents: Jo Ella Horn Frizzell and John Bose Frizzell. Jal is survived by her 3 children: Charles Peter Morriss II (Lisa), Dana Michele Hubbell Peru (Ramey) and Robin Suzette Lindop. Known as GrandMom, she leaves 8 grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews an aunt, and many cousins. Friends and family can pay their respects at the celebration of life, officiated by Pastor Rowdy Van Horn, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 1:00p.m. at SoHo63, 63 E Boston Street, Chandler, Arizona, 85225.
