John Quincy Wheat, 82, beloved husband and father passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 07, 2017. John was born November 19, 1934 in Franklinton, Louisiana. He moved to Baton Rouge after high school where he met and married the love of his life. John is survived by his adoring wife, Mary Lee Jackson Wheat; two loving daughters, Debra Smith and husband Frank, and Kathy Self and husband Gary; grandchildren Kristy Bourgeios, Brandi Burton, Brandelyn Cahill and husband Chuck, Troy Burton, Amber Self, Jason Self and wife Sarah, Mary Burton, and John Smith; great-grandchildren Allison Cahill, Hannah Cahill, and Mackenzie Self; sisters Gwen Lemay and husband Ernest, Juanita Booty and husband Dennis, Ora Lee Wilson and husband Robert; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward and Iola Irene Wheat; sisters Patricia Wheat and Barbara Jo Clark; and brother-in-law H. Wayne "Sonny" Clark; niece Lisa Lemay Davis. Visitation will be held at New Harmony Baptist Church, 7340 Antioch Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70817, on Wednesday night from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at New Harmony Baptist Church on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM followed by the burial at Resthaven Garden of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
