John S. Burnett (Sonny), 82, went to be with our Heavenly Father, on Saturday, August 5, 2017. He is survived by his loving bride of 61 years, Rose M. Burnett, his children & their spouses, Lori Soileau & Greg, Lynn Centineo & Ricky, John S. Burnett, Jr., & Ronette. He is also survived by his grandchildren & their spouses, Ricci Reyna, Josh Wells & Katie Boudreaux, Lee Elgin & Beth, Laney Holder & Dustin, Stephen Soileau, Meg Burnett, Jack Burnett & Blakely Soileau. Four great grandchildren, Audrey Wells, Sloane, Sawyer & Channing Elgin. He is also survived by his sister & brother in law, Betty Thames & I.B. & sister, Butzie Hicks, numerous nieces & nephews & his beloved dog, Precious. He is preceded in death by his parents, John O. Burnett & Camille Williams Burnett, his sister Jeanne Lockhart & brother in law Austin Lockhart, & his brother in law Larry Hicks. John was a Navy and Air Force Veteran. He was very patriotic & loved to fly the American Flag & collect anything with bald eagles on it. He retired as a Service Manager of Lanier Business Products. He was a kind man, never met a stranger. He was a lifelong fan of Aviation and Nascar. He loved to fix cars and was a jack of all trades. He loved his family immensely & enjoyed family gatherings where he always said the blessing. He believed in Jesus Christ as his personal savior & was looking forward to going to his heavenly home. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of his life and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Luke 10:27, A Community of Faith Church, 536 Centerville St., NE, Denham Springs, LA 1:00 visitation, 2:00 Memorial service. Anyone wanting to share precious memories of John is welcome. In lieu of flowers, make memorial donations to Mary Bird Perkins, OLOL Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA.
