A native of Alexandria, LA and a resident of Gloster, MS, Kent passed away at Baton Rouge Medical Center-Bluebonnet Drive, on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 65. He was an honors graduate of LSU-Baton Rouge, where he earned a business degree and a BA in Science. A devout catholic, Kent also earned a Masters in Theology from Loyola University of New Orleans. He was employed with CLECO in Pineville, LA and for the state of Louisiana Department of Health and Human Services from which he retired. He enjoyed teaching theology to students, long and interesting conversations with friends and family, fishing and hunting, and also watching college football, specifically LSU football and baseball. Kent is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Bordelon and Elma Dupuy Bordelon; his sister, Mary Gauthier Helmer; and a loving niece, Pamala Gauthier. He is survived by his brother, Gene Bordelon; sisters, Nita Gernant (husband Fred) and Diane Bordelon; nieces and nephews, Karen Gauthier, Irby Gauthier, David Gauthier, Cindy Bordelon, Melissa Bordelon, Fred Gernant, and Elizabeth Gernant; great nieces and nephews, Michael Robichaux, Laura Robichaux, Joseph Riddle, Desiree Ezernack, Joe Gauthier, Cord Gauthier, Lexi Gauthier and Annika Gauthier; and several great-great nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Joseph Cathedral (412 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) at 2:00 pm. Words of comfort may be expressed to the family at
