Kermit Paul Braud, a native of Reserve and resident of Prairieville, Louisiana, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Hospital at the age of 90 years old. Kermit was awarded the 1999 Blue Cross Blue Shield "Ageless Hero for Love of Learning" and this truly represented his passion for teaching and education. Kermit was an Agricultural Extension Agent at LSU. He was a World War II veteran in the United States Army and served during the occupation of Japan. He also served on numerous committees and boards during his 35 plus years with the LSU Agricultural Extension Service, especially with Jefferson, Orleans, St. Charles, and St. Mary Parishes. He loved his family, his Catholic faith and what he called "God's Church", the swamps, wetlands, and natural resources in the state of Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Decoteau Braud; his daughters, Denise Barreca (Tommy), Suzanne Snider (Charlie), Jeanne Hall (Nipper), Andrea Lambert (Charlie); his sons, Michael Braud (Liz), and Brian Braud; his sisters, Evelyn Bourque and Gail Decoteau and his brother, Owen Braud; his 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica, Jaclyn, Dustin, Marcus, Leslie, Monica, Bonnie, Adam, and Jacob; and his 20 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry John Sr. and Alice Abadie Braud; his brothers, Harry John Braud Jr. and Benoit Braud; his sister, Alice Crochet; his grandson, Scott Snider and his daughter-in-law, Judy Braud. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (15208 Hwy 73, Prairieville, La.) on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin. Interment will follow at Prairieville Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Snider, Marcus Lambert, Adam Hall, Jacob Hall, Cameron Braud, and Billy Shedler.
