A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11:00 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Lynn Peter Poirrier Sr., 87, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospice-The Carpenter House in Lafayette.Entombment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum. Reverend Mark Derise, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Jess Lynn Beauxis Poirrier; two daughters, Renée A. Poirrier and Michelle P. LeBlanc (Robert); three sons, Lynn Peter Poirrier Jr., John G. Poirrier (Judy) and Martin T. Poirrier (Sandy); one sister, Doris Poirrier Hymel; one brother, Lester Poirrier Sr.; seven grandchildren, Christopher Poirrier (Tori), Teri Poirrier, Hannah Credeur (Devan), Jacob Poirrier, Connor Poirrier, Samuel Poirrier and Nathan LeBlanc; and three great-grandchildren, Jaida, Cooper and Liam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo George and Martha Mary Tregre Poirrier; and two brothers, Louis J. Poirrier Sr. and Leo C. Poirrier Sr. Lynn Peter Poirrier Sr. was a native of Donaldsonville, Louisiana, and resident of Scott for most of his life. He was a Veteran of military service and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Poirrier worked as a Toll Technician with South Central Bell/AT&T for over 32 years before his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend who cherished his family and loved spending time with them. Mr. Poirrier was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott. He enjoyed hunting, lunch each month with the ROMEO's, and monthly dinners with Western & AT&T retirees and spouses. Mr. Poirrier will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Christopher Poirrier, Jacob Poirrier, Connor Poirrier, Samuel Poirrier, Nathan LeBlanc and Tim Poirrier. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 7:00 PM and Friday at 9:00 AM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made in Lynn's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105, or the charity of your choice. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Poirrier family to the nurses, staff and Doctors of St. Joseph Hospice-The Carpenter House, for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mr. Poirrier and his family during their time of need.
