Mary Ann Palmintier Masaracchia, resident and native of Hammond, LA, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at the age of 90. She was born November 30, 1928. Affectionately known by her family and friends as "Dear" and former co-owner of Rico's Poboy in downtown Hammond, Mary Ann was also the Strawberry Queen of 1946 - a title she and her family have always been proud of. Surviving are her 5 children and spouses, Peggy and "Jr." Matheu, Judi and Claude Guillotte, Cindy and Don Andrus, Ricky and Jessica Masaracchia, Tommy and Carol Masaracchia; 6 grandchildren, Patrick and Andi Matheu, Cathryn Matheu and , soon to be husband, Rob DiPrima, Alex, Zach, Emily, Christianne ; 3 great-grandchildren, Rickie, Joeigh and Gemma, and so many nieces and nephews that she also considered her children. She is preceded in death by her adoring husband, Rico Masaracchia, parents Joseph and Jane S. Palmintier; brothers, Nick, Vincent, Joseph, Johnny and Dominick Palmintier, and sisters, Mary P. Alack, Augustine P. Lobue, JoAnn P. Peco and Kathryn P. DePaula. Friends and Family will be received Friday, January 4, 2019 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum. An on-line guest book is available at www.harrymckneely.com.
