Miriam McDaniel Dufour (Mrs Joseph Dufour) "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Miriam McDaniel Dufour, a long-time resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Plaquemine, passed away on February 7, 2021, three days prior to her 88th birthday on February 10th. Miriam attended Plaquemine Senior High School and worked at various jobs since she was 14 years old. She held several management positions in many area department stores until her retirement. Miriam's daily activities always included reciting the Holy Rosary and when confined to home, always watched Sunday mass on television. Miriam was an avid reader of books and a faithful football fan. Her mind remained "sharp as a tack" even in later years. Her outgoing personality afforded her many friends. Miriam's biggest joys in life were her son, Joey, who was called to Heaven unexpectedly on August 21, 2019, and Joey's daughter, Morgan Dufour. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ no doubt helped her to accept life's challenges and losses of her dear loved ones, especially her only son, Joey. Miriam took a lot of pride in being independent in all areas of her life until her failing health prevented her from doing so. Miriam is survived by granddaughter, Morgan Dufour, sister, Geraldine Borruano, brother, Donald McDaniel and wife Janell, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Hemily "Joe" Dufour, son, Joseph Hemily "Joey" Dufour, Jr., parents Floyd McDaniel and Artmise McDaniel Templet, siblings, Eula McDaniel Hebert, Twilla McDaniel White, and Elric Raflee. Miriam's final wish, when the time came, was to be cremated and laid to rest next to her beloved Joe and Joey. This wish will be finalized on Wednesday, February 17, at Greenoaks Memorial Park at 10:00AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at Greenoaks Funeral Home at 9:45AM for a procession to the burial site for a graveside service.
