Norman Eugene Gill Jr., 84, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away October 19, 2018. Norman was born March 5,1934 in Albany, Louisiana. He graduated from Albany High School. Norman, known as "Nooney" to many, was the #1 lifelong fan of the LSU Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and country music legend Merle Haggard. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Betty Jean Bodi Gill. He is also survived by 3 children, daughter Katherine Martens and husband Gordon, son Stan P. Gill and partner Clark, son Roger Eugene Gill and wife Laura. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Alleyn and husband Jaime, Dayne Gill Commander and husband Gary, Spenser Martens and wife Rebecca, Chasen Gill, Mary Margaret Martens, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and 2 siblings. He is survived by a brother, Johnny and a sister, Jerry Ann McGee. The family would like to thank Brother Alton Foster and his wife, Jimmie for serving the family's spiritual needs in Norman's last hours and being long time friends of the family. Services were held in private. The family requests that donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington, Louisiana.An online guest book is available at www.harrymckneely.com.
