Patricia Fitzpatrick Melancon died peacefully in her sleep on May 15, 2018. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday May 16th at 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday May 17th at 10:30am until Mass of Christian burial at 12:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Patty was born in Aryshire, IA and raised in Milford, IA. She was a graduate of St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll, Iowa and practiced as a registered nurse until she quit nursing to raise her three children. She worked at Brighton Academy School as a school nurse and receptionist. She was an Irish Catholic to the core and cherished her Midwest roots and heritage. Patty is a long time parishioner of St. Thomas More and was active in the senior ministry until her health declined and took up residence at The Haven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Honora O'Brien Fitzpatrick, her beloved husband John Miller Melancon, and infant son John Leo. She is survived by her daughters, Lori Talamo (Steve), Elizabeth Harlan (Jeff), and son John Melancon (Teresa), and Grandchildren John Melancon, Brent Talamo, Megan Talamo, Ryan Talamo, Grace Harlan, and Kate Harlan, her brother-in-laws Lolan Melancon (Faye), Edward Melancon, and sister-in-law Anne Doub (Lloyd). The family would like to extend their gratitude to Susan Howick and family for their love and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Carpenter House Hospice of Baton Rouge.

I didn't know of Patty's death until I heard it announced in prayers for the deceased at STM mass. She was the nicest lady, and I'm sincerely sorry for your loss.
