After his military service, Pete returned to Baton Rouge and worked for the City of Baton Rouge until he retired in 2016. Not one to be idle in retirement, Pete then began working for ARCCO Power Systems and was employed there until his passing. Pete is survived by his wife Sandra Withers, his stepdaughter Sabrina Nussbaum, Sabrina's husband Dave Nussbaum, and grandson Patrick Nussbaum as well as his brother and family Thomas, Gloria, and Brian Lang of Glendale, California, and his sister Nancy Ann Newfield and her husband Paul of New Orleans, Louisiana. A kind and outgoing person, Pete enjoyed family, friends, fishing, and photography. Due to COVID restrictions, the interment service with Military Honors to be held at the Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary will be private. Sandy appreciates all the kindnesses and sympathy expressed by everyone who knew Pete.
