Rene (R.L.) Luke Oubre Jr, a native of New Iberia, LA and resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on September 9, 2018 at the age of 78. His death was sudden and unexpected, in fact his final moments were spent hanging around the house with his beloved wife. His cause of death is believed to have been a massive heart attack. R.L. was a loving husband, caring father, and strong Christian man. Honor, integrity, perseverance, morality, and strength are a few of the many admirable characteristics that describe how R.L. lived his life. R.L. served in the US Army, received an honorable discharge, and loved his country. As a music minister of several churches in his early career, R.L. put his master's in music degree and incredible music talent on display for the glory of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Redesigning his career later in life, R.L. took a job in sales and ultimately became an accomplished business development manager. R.L. always provided the best for his wife and three sons and loved his grandchildren deeply. He will be truly missed by all those who were close to him and he would've wanted all people who he encountered to know that the plan of salvation by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, leads to eternal life. R.L. was preceded in death by his parents Rene and Belzile Oubre. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn Lee Oubre; sons, Troy, Brett, and Blaine Oubre; 7 grandchildren; and his siblings, Lucille Adams and Simon Oubre. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 6pm-8pm. Services for R.L. will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12pm with a visitation prior, beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
