Russell L. Dietrich died peacefully, surrounded by his family on March 3, 2018 at the age of 90. He was born to Christian and Marguerite Dietrich on May 25, 1927. He was a 1945 graduate of Catholic High of Baton Rouge, where he was a Golden Glove Boxer on the boxing team and a Drum Major in the band. World War II Veteran serving in the Air Force as a telecommunications specialist. Worked and retired from Bell South. Past-President of CWA. A long –time member of St. Gerard Church and a current member of St. Jean Vianney. Survived by sons Russell (Betty) Dietrich, Chris (Patti) Dietrich; daughters Judy (Edward "Buddy") Terrell, Mary (David) Landry, Linda (Richard) Leger, Susan (Tony) Pope, Annette (Ralph) White; daughter-in-law Laurie Dietrich; sisters Lodena Rivett, Jane Lambert, Mary Claire Garrene, Catherine LeBouef and Barbara Albarez; Grandchildren Kevin Terrell, Kim Higgins, Aaron and Chad Landry, Danielle Leger, Amy Smith, Stephen and Mark Woodward, Christy Hicks, Micah Zeringue, Nicole White, Diana Farge, Jared, Grant, Virginia, Morgan and Garrett Dietrich, and 18 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by loving wife of 63 years, Martha Anna Crochet Dietrich, sons John Michael and Ralph Joseph Dietrich, parents Christian and Marguerite Dietrich, brothers Bill, Donald, Stewart, Vernon and Carl Dietrich. Pallbearers Kevin Terrell, Micah Zeringue, Jared, Grant and Garrett Dietrich, Stephen and Mark Woodward, Aaron and Chad Landry. The Family would like to thank all of the staff at Amedisys Hospice Care, especially D'Ette, for their support, his friends at Drusilla, St. Jean Vianney Church, and countless other friends for their prayers and kindness. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 1100 Florida Boulevard, Monday, March 5, 2018, starting at 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church Tuesday March 6, 2018 beginning at 10:00 am with Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 pm with burial to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
