Sergeant Sam Towels entered into eternal rest at his residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday, February 12, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was a 92 year old native of Tallahassee, Florida; a two time retiree of the U.S. Armed Forces- first from the Army having served 22 years; and lastly from the Air Force after serving 20 years. Viewing at Miller & Daughter Mortuary on Saturday, February 20, 2012 from 8-9:45 am; due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private service will be FB live streamed via Miller & Daughter's page at 10:00 am conducted by Rev. I Webster; interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survivors includes his devoted wife of 61 years, Lucy Towels; children, Viola Jackson, Tracey Pickney (Raymond), Monica and Sammy Towels (Mary) and Daisy Kimble; sister, Thelma Alston; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends; preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Viola Towels; children, Joyce Gullette, Sonja and Elbert Towels, Marilyn Brazelton, Mae Nash and Luther Clark; siblings, Elbert, Clement, Mary and Amarilee; Vietta Yalverton and Vice Mae Johnson. He was a former member of Antioch Missionary B.C. of Alexandria where he was Chairman of the Deacons Ministry, a choir member and taught Sunday School and Brotherhood. After relocating in 2014, he joined Greater New Guide B.C.
