Shirley Mae McGrew Baltz (Ghee) went home to be with the Lord and the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Baltz on May 31, 2021, at the age of 88. Shirley was born on February 25, 1933, to Joseph (Allie) McGrew and Mary Eloise Babin McGrew. Shirley was a resident of the Baton Rouge/Baker, Louisiana, area for most of her life. The last 20 years she was a resident of Cypress, Texas. Active in the Presbyterian Church in all locations, she loved the Lord and studied his teachings. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, painting, flying with Bob, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob (Grumps), and her parents, Allie and Eloise. She is survived by her children Vicki Baltz Hicks and husband James (Jim) Hicks, Jr., and Trudi Baltz Stafford and husband John Stafford; grandchildren Harper Hicks Bateman and husband Walter Bateman, James (Jared) Hicks and wife Renee Hicks, and Hilary Stafford Owen and husband Nick Owen; great-grandchildren Sawyer and Harmon Bateman, Ryan, Matthew and Adam Hicks, and Stafford (Ford) Owen; siblings Marion (Lois) McGrew Judge, and Gerald (Jerry) McGrew and wife Brenda McGrew; also numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are James (Jared) Hicks, Walter Bateman, Allen Moore, Ryan Hicks, Matthew Hicks and James (Jim) Cooper. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home - Cypress Creek, 9149 Hwy 6 North, Houston, TX 77095. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with funeral services by the Reverend Robert Lane at 2:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA 70714. Interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Avanti Senior Living at Towne Lake and Brookdale Hospice for the exceptional care she received.
