A resident of Walker passed away at his home on Friday, May 11, 2018, surrounded by his family at the age of 86. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Livingston on Monday, May 14, 2018, beginning at 9:00 am. Rev. Richard White will conduct funeral services at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in S. Hughes Cemetery in Walker. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Dollie K. Hughes; two sons, Steve Hughes Jr. and wife Melinda, Ellis Hughes and wife Rhonda; two daughters, Myra Crawford and husband Benny, and Darcie McManus and husband Jerry Jr.; thirteen grandchildren, Lori, Angie, Yancy, Molly, Audrey, Wyatt, Tyler, Dylan, Ellie, Kirby, Jackie, Emily, and Morgan; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Smith; his aunt, Geneva Cockerham; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Irene Hughes; brother, Herbert Hughes; and great-grandson Gabriel. He was an avid hunter and gardener. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Reed and special nurse Brooke Doucet, nurse Shannon and the staff at Bridgeway Hospice for all their care and support.
