Obituary

Verlyn T. Bercegeay passed away peacefully at home on May 13th 2019 at the age of 84. She was a native of Metairie, Louisiana and a former resident of Hammond, LA. Verlyn was a longtime volunteer at North Oaks medical center in Hammond and also served as the Chairman and Registrar for The Live Oak Society for many years. She enjoyed her time as a member of the Cruising Cajuns and The Louisiana Garden Club Federation where she also served as Chairman. Verlyn retired from Eastern Airlines and also worked at Taca Airlines and Colonial Country Club. She will be missed by her loving son Andre Bercegeay, daughter-in-law Lori Bercegeay, brother Melvin Tubre (Rosalie Tubre), grandchildren Danielle Zimmer, and Justin, Drew, and Mason Bercegeay, great grandchildren Brayden and Brooklyn Zimmer, son-in-law Frank Smith and her loving caregiver Bonnie Humphreys. She is proceeded in death by her husband Charles W. Bercegeay and daughter Jeannine Lambert Smith. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, May 18, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr, Metairie, LA 70001. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Reception following services at Andre and Lori's home: 107 Kaylee Drive, Hahnville, LA 70057. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Andre and Lori's 501c3 nonprofit activity center for special needs individuals at: Special Angels Outreach, 201 Post Drive, Luling, LA, 70070.
